THE READER:

ROGUE November 2010

A Facebook user whose a fan of the magazine wrote how "Rogue just strips out their cover models to their bare, pure classiness. Well done, especially for Jennylyn". It's precisely what ROGUE magazine is notorious for. From the sea of Filipino women, they manage to always put them on fine pedestals, making sure that's it's like an art form their taking pictures of, instead of objects they want to sell. In the case of their November 2010 issue, local celebrity Jennylyn Mercado gets vamped up and smoldering in what seems like a wintry forest thanks to editor L.A. Consing Lopez and ROGUE constant photographer, Mark Nicdao. Grab a copy of their art issue and please your sense thanks to the magazine's signature visual elegance and their weighty, relevant content.

DESIGN MILK: MODERN DESIGN

I've been on the prowl for handsome design blogs that tackle some art, some interior design and some loads of interesting furniture ideas. I stumbled upon Design Milk: Modern Design on Google, after typing in "Interior Design Blogs". Ranked by padstyle.com as their 15th on a Top 25 list, I think Design Milk got me cause of its minimal logo and its clean look. I have yet to discover the others on the list but if you're like me who's interested in things beautiful and related to art, Design Milk's a good start into a new, or rather, "late appreciation" for interior design.

WEAR NOW:
ROBERT GELLER for COMMON PROJECTS

Meet the handsome, 1960 Combat boot designed by good, new rebel designer Robert Geller for a collaboration with Common Projects. It's quite tried and tested that black boots work for almost everything that a man has in his closet. And these pairs could be dressed up in with a dinner jacket, a clean button down and tailored trousers (that's some new rebel style for you) and dressed down in a favorite t-shirt and ripped jeans for something more rocker chic. Whichever style avenue you lean on, Robert Geller's combat boots in waxed suede with its belted design is an honestly sterling buy this season, one you're certified to wear even after decades of changing styles.

INTERVIEW Magazine November 2010

Ryan Gosling for Interview magazine

Ryan Gosling lends his face to Interview magazine for their November 2010 issue.
Inside the magazine, Gosling is the focus of a story that pin points, what seems like, the qualities that make up Ryan Gosling, the anti-thesis of what we know as the young "male movie stars". Pretty interesting, I say.

10 RULES of STYLE:
BJ PASCUAL

Young prodigy and one of the Philippines' top and most sought after photographers, BJ Pascual shares with THE EDGE, his 10 Rules of Style. Take from the photographer the best Manila-based designer suits, the old, storied appeal, color choices for both dress shoes and bags and the BEST advice he could give when it comes to our favorite pair of jeans.

The young photographer who's works have been published by top local publications

1.) Big watches are fantastic.

2.) Bracelets. Not less than 2 at a time.

3.) The older it (anything) looks, the better.

4.) Brown + Black = Perfection

5.) Have at least a pair of gray, black, brown and blue dress shoes.

6.) Same with bags. A PS1 in all the colors mentioned above and a Celine Cabas (the beige and black one)

7.) Most jeans look best and last longer when left unwashed. If it stinks, hang it in open air. If it still smells, then it's time to wash it.

8.) The softest basics from Alexander Wang and James Perse are essential in life.

9.) Three words: Distressed Leather Workboots.

10.) A Ziggy Savella suit.

Check out BJ Pascual's blog here.

GQ November 2010
The trio for GQ

Gleeks, as they call themselves, would enjoy visiting their newsstands to pick up GQ's November 2010 issue.
The gorgeous Dianna Agron and sexy Lea Michele prove to be the series' hottest ladies and who better enjoy the ladies than lead man Cory Monteith himself. The Terry Richardson shot cover story is typical Richardson in its exposed style and it's actually a pretty interesting spread. GQ hits newsstands states side on the 26th.

WEAR NOW:
PRE-AGED ESQUIVEL SHOES
Esquivel

There are some of us who don't like it squeaky clean or hard-pressed new sometimes and find it more stylish to sport well worn-in tees, broken-in denim jackets and ancient suits. DETAILS magazine goes for the same feel and look, cause admittedly, the used and abused look sometimes works like a charm. Take these pre-aged Esquivel pair of black leather shoes. They've been treated like a painter's been working his entire life in them, not to mention running and braving the storms too. It seems like a storied piece and that's what makes clothes and shoes worthy of adoration.
Check out DETAILS' other picks here.

SAMSUNG + GIORGIO ARMANI Galaxy S Phone

I'm a huge fan of the Samsung Galaxy S and according to reviews, it's the only phone worthy to face up to the iPhone 4. To me though it doesn't really matter which wins over the market cause I've been a Samsung user for quite some time and could testify to their quality.
Giorgio Armani, master of elegance collaborates yet again with the phone company, creating a tasteful mobile treat for stylish customers. Aside from all its android smartness and sleek looks, the Samsung & Giorgio Armani Galaxy S model would probably function as another status symbol like those famed designer collaborations with cellphone companies.
Of course, with this kind of production, the price would probably sky rocket to an expensive tag, so if you're up for some spending, head down your major cellphone providers and Giorgio Armani stores this November.

Matt Bomer in Michael Bastian and Dolce & Gabbana

White Collar lead star, Matt Bomer (who turns 33 this Monday) lands the pages of GQ for a 4 page spread wearing, well quite ironically, the coolest "collarlesses" around.
It's ironic cause, aside from his show's title, he usually wears those neat button downs for the series and he looks immaculate in them.
Proving that a henley too ought to get that same classic treatment, team GQ shows you how to pull off the stunning masculine "in-between" for more casual days, when t-shirts are too frumpy and collared ones to dressy.

MONITALY RAGLAN ZIPPERED JACKET

I wrote for local magazine ROGUE this month about the gray sweater and it seems like most of the cool fall finds I've been liking are in the awesome hue.
This Monitaly Raglan jacket is one stylish find. Aside from the fact that it's in a smoky, grainy slate, the way it falls testifies to great technique and tailoring. Wear it with a leather jacket, a no-fuss white shirt and handsome jeans and awesome trainers, people will most definitely take you for an off-duty model.

>>> Jon Hamm & other Great men
British GQ celebrates it's annual Men of the Year awards. Leading the pack are cover guys (and girl) Mad Men break-out star, Mr. Jon Hamm, always dashing and dapper in a dinner jacket and white bow tie, the awesome band, The Gorillaz and a year favorite, Gemma Arterton as Woman of the Year. Other winners include Jason Statham who takes home the Editor's special award, Gossip Girl's Ed Westwick, Aaron Johnson chosen by Smirnoff as Most Stylish, Heston Blumenthal as Chef of the Year and James Corden as Comedian of 2010. To know more about other winners and winning content of this month's issue, get your copy of British GQ on newsstands now.

>>> The Return: The Jean Jacket
The return of the jean jacket has finally been accepted by people, even those who don't attend the snobby fashion weeks in Milan, New York and Paris. Cool guys and cool guy editors wear them and Jak and Jil and the Sartorialist are active proofs of that. Don't worry, you don't have to be an editor or a male model like Sean O. (below) to wear it. All you need is cold weather and a simple style. Do it the vintage way: white, round neck t-shirt, different wash of denim pants (so if your jacket is light, go for a dark pair of pants, and vise versa) and good pair of shoes like brown desert boots. Another chic option is to pair with trim khaki trousers, in any shade that feels and looks good. The best thing about a jean jacket, well, aside from it being the younger and less aggressive version of a leather jacket, is that it ages well and looks even better after being worn out year after year. The picture above shows you two Levi's jackets. You'll never guess which one's new and which one isn't. Tell me if you know the answer.

The Man in Black, in GQ UK October 2010

>>> Baddest Boy in Town
You're no stranger to supermodel Sean O'pry. In fact he's been featured here and just about everywhere for that face we all recognize. Well, this month, he's making the best and smartest magazine rounds that would certainly guarantee his reserved spot on top of the male model order. Currently number 2, but with appearances and spreads in Japanese VOGUE, British GQ (above) and DETAILS plus a cover for 7th Man Magazine, he's probably the baddest boy in town.

"Hair Organizer" by the Draplin Design Co.

>>> Old School Perfection
There's no school like the old school and old school, is all about the glossy slicked back hair. Now a days I would like to believe that the modern version of those 50s dos are shorter with less grime and shine (unless you're a model and that's called for in a show) in them and the perfect old school tool to shape your hair would be the handsomely simple and designed DDC "Hair Organizer". DDC stands for Draplin Design Co. The simplicity and the interesting text on it makes it pretty charming for me, instead of those plain black ones.

>>> The Ride
It's about time we featured a car here, right? Well, if it's as handsome as this 2010 Jaguar C-X75 we might as well just turn into a car blog (if only I had the perfect knowledge of them, why not). As a celebration of 7 amazing decades and 5 years of Jaguar design, the C-X75 promises top of the line style and performance. If I ramble on about engine specifications, it won't give this baby justice. Click here for the real deal on the C-X75. All I know is, no one would ever resist riding on this one. Stunning masculine elegance is all I could say.

>>> The Traveler's Companion
Of course it's a piece of art, look at that beauty: all that sleek, monochromatic color and streamline design is worthy of contemporary art status. But if you're the kind who's into all-in-one stuff, this Travelteq "Trip" Luggage does more than proper stowage inside your overhead compartment. It's a convertible luggage case that could turn into an actual chair. Apparently it promises you the comfort of working on the go (if you really want to sit down and bring out your laptop) and has a built-in stereo option, just in case you think your iPod's too, I don't know, personal.

>>> Ladies, Rock n Roll!
GQ's poll for the sexiest and most beautiful women of Rock n' Roll is a visual feast. From Blondie Debbie Harry, fierce Grace Jones, Stevie Nicks and Katy Perry, the women of the music's history are certainly ones to study. My favorite is the French beauty, Francoise Hardy (above) who's won the hearts of the biggest rockstar legends we know today: Mick Jagger, Bob Dylan and David Bowie. My vote's for her. Click here to vote for your favorite lady rocker.
