GQ FRANCE
BRYAN FERRY
The man in Dolce & Gabbana (I suppose). Bryan Ferry for GQ France
I don't pay attention to French GQ than I'm supposed to. And that is why I am 10 days behind. Check out the awesome, straight-to-the-point chic cover of the music legend Bryan Ferry for French GQ. The colors are fantastic and Mr. Ferry is just as interesting a cover for a magazine like he is on those Dolce & Gabbana shirts. Oh and that's because the man is the inspiration for Dolce & Gabbana's cool Fall 2011 collection.
Good job GQ France (if I could write/speak French, I'd congratulate you in your beautiful language).

THE STARTER + THE WEEKEND:

PEOPLE. ICON. READS. STYLE. WOMEN & MORE

After (probably one of the) longest months this year, May's here and ready to shed some stylish days to come.

Check out DETAILS new-and-improved loafers (pennies for your thought) to wear, the icon we're celebrating this month and the sexy, devilish model whose borrowing our clothes for a magazine story. All that and more for this month's THE STARTER + THE WEEKEND.

>>> ICON of the MONTH: DAVID BECKHAM
Rocking a Ralph Lauren Purple Label suit (and his super stylish wife)
at the Royal Wedding yesterday, David Beckham
The Brits have so many things to be proud of, definitely one of them is soccer star and all-round personality Mr. David Beckham. Awarded by GQ as the best airport dresser there is, this man could take dressing to serious heights in and outside the airport. Like we've seen him yesterday, well turned-out in a Ralph Lauren Purple Label suit for the Royal Wedding, Beckham's a hands-down brilliant dresser. This month the man turns a year older and hopefully awfully more stylish.

>>> PRE-FALL GOODIES

Almost heroic for Bergdorf Goodman's Pre-Fall lookbook, Sean O'pry does it again
Top model, Sean O'pry heads down to Bergdorf Goodman to try on what the store will have for you in later half of this year. Pre-Fall may sound too early, but trust me it's great to have you updated so that when you go Fall clothes hunting, it'll be way easier for you to know which ones to buy. Mostly in olives (still having a big moment) and dark browns, charcoals and whites, a surprisingly light washed pair of jeans lends some light into the looks Bergdorf Goodman's prepared for you. And so far, fall looks trim and great as it should be.

>>> PENNY for your THOUGHTS

DETAILS' selections for this season's best go-to shoes
Cue in some ankles folks, we're up for a lot of sockless days to come. DETAILS magazine curates for you the "new-and-improved" versions of our grandfather's favorite pairs: penny loafers. Slimmer in shape and narrower on the toe, these black, modern yet timeless summer staples will be your never-fail shoes for now. Take your pick, roll those chinos up and enjoy.

>>> GAMBLING w/ ANNA

For VOGUE Paris, Anna Selezneva

The few times you've checked out a copy of VOGUE, the only interesting thing you've had might involve a beautiful model with almost nothing on. Of course, done tastefully. But feast your eyes on a French VOGUE story this month, featuring the beautiful, almost devilish Anna Selezneva trying on lady jewels and our dinner jackets and suits. Only the tiniest of flesh could be seen here, but I say it's just as sexy. Always been appealing to me to see ladies wearing men's clothes...

>>> DOUBLING the CHIC

Portel iPhone Wallet @ Selectism
Ever tried to fit in everything in one neat wallet? I have and I tell you it's not as handsome as I wanted it to be. Check out Portel's---at Etsy, iPhone wallet. The handmade leather wallet fits all your bills and Visas in plus gives your favorite gadget a safe home to stay in. It won't be as bulky as you think it would be and the selection of leathers from cream to dark brown to a handsome wine are all so delicious to look at. So you make sure only your eyes could see these, cause if somebody else would, you're doomed.

>>> the SUEDE BACK

Assembly New York's Suede Backpack @ The Carry
A canvas backpack is a classic, of course. But having your backpack all done up in suede is a new classic I must say. For a softer feel to your bag with the same stylish punch, check out Assembly New York's latest design. Featuring all the zippers you need, an adjustable pair of straps and a wonderful look, this one's a keeper.

>>> ALEXing the WORLD

Alex Pettyfer dashing for VMan's Summer issue
Derek Blasberg sits down with the handsome Mr. Alex Pettyfer for a VMan cover story and clearly, Alex Pettyfer was not approached by American fashion God Ralph Lauren to be turned into a "supermodel baby". That's what the rising star's Wikipedia page says and that's only one of the things you'll have to read about Pettyfer's story. Dressed in the most stunning of lightweight fashion, this VMan cover AND interview will be one of my favorites for sure. Get your copies now and find out what's so great about Alex Pettyfer and why soon, he'll be the world's biggest star.

My all-time favorite photo from Jules Schratter

Model, blogger--- throughjuleslens, and all-round cool guy, Jules Schratter (the face of 7 for All Mankind) has granted me an exclusive interview for my other blog, Salt.

In this short interview he manages to pack it with the most important things about him and his portion of the cyberspace: his love for photography, for family and friends and for having damn good fun.
With photos taken from his blog, it's one of my proudest works to date. Not to mention one of my favorite interviews so far.

And I have Jules to thank for it. Read on to find out what he loves about kids, how he tells the Davenport twins apart and in a photo, the funnest night he's had.

The Face, Sean O'pry for PF magazine @models.com
The face that could launch just about everything is covering for Ukrainian magazine, PF for next month's issue. Always a surefire hit, going for a Sean O'pry story is considered safe nowadays, but around this time, this man has his name embedded on practically every style and fashion savvy kid to adult out there. Congratulations, I could smell number one Sean, real soon.

THE WEEKEND:

Let's get some serious chic up in here, as we celebrate Easter and the weekend at THE EDGE.

From Tina Fey's book, Tim Hamilton doing Bergdorf Goodman great to DETAILS' weatherproof jackets and more, welcome to THE EDGE's list for the Weekend.

+ SOME TINA FEY

The sexy Tina Fey for GQ
Lady's on a roll: from doing really funny movies (Mean Girls) to silverscreen hits (30 Rock) the mother and all-time funny woman of our generation, Tina Fey has got her book Bossypants out on the shelves. It won't take long, trust me, before this one hits the top selling list. Check out her GQ interview (linked above) and what she has to say about blondes. Seriously, we need us lots of Tina Fey in our lives.

Asics jacket for running @ DETAILS

+ COVER WORTHY

Maybe it's time I trade up my dependable gray hoodie for some awesome color for my post-run walks? Yes, right?

DETAILS magazine (via Valetmag) gives you 5 options for every workout: sailing, running, cycling, hiking and even for those city walks during trying rainy days. Most of which are in really sporty colors like an aqua Burberry sailing jacket or this bright yellow running piece from Asics, the idea is to manage a chic weatherproof cover up and a trusty jacket that fits your activities.

Start hunting your favorite stores now for one you'd be using most definitely even after a hundred workouts.

+ A CLASS ACT

Pavel Baranov for Tim Hamilton + Bergdorf Goodman @models.com
The collaboration between two big stylish names, Tim Hamilton and Bergdorf Goodman, is a class act. Period. Tim Hamilton gives his old collection for the brand a refresh, using new fabrics in constructing old favorites like blazers, khaki trousers, button down shirts and sweaters. This maybe a capsule collection of basics, but the idea behind it will definitely last you until it fits. Clothes this stripped down, basic and elegant has been tested so go ahead and start on your purchase.

+ TRAVELING, BOTTEGA VENETA STYLE

Director Christian Weber collaborates with Bottega Veneta for a short film entitled "Viaggio Notturno"  which loosely translates to, a journey in music, something like that. It is however notable that while the music for this short film is spectacular, there are some pretty off parts in the film (like  this "facial mask" part that I find a little awkward). But knowing that this is a Bottega Veneta film--- the brand known for excellent quality everything, the short film was genius. It was memorable and the pieces you'd see makes you want to spend your life away just purchasing them. Terron Wood does a great job opposite his female model (whom I still have to research) and just everything looks impeccable, from the bags to the eyepatches to the smoke dancing for the beginning and the end. Traveling Bottega style sure is worth a short film I must say.

+ SHORT TIME
Olasul's lookbook
Valetmag's latest post shows you a range of awesome, candy-colored shorts to choose from for your beach trips (soon and in the future). All of them, made by Olasul, a Peruvian-blooded label that is all about Peru's surfing culture. Give your Speedos and Billabongs and those other surfing goods some rest and try these ones on for size. The colors are great, the prices are fair and the designs are cool. I say go buy now!

Simon Nessman for HERO magazine @ models.com
Male modeling world's favorite pair of lips, Simon Nessman looks amazing in Givenchy's "doggy chic" Fall 2011 look for HERO magazine's latest issue. In a story featuring the best pieces off the Fall 2011 runway, Nessman is every bit of an impressive model to look at and even when he's just staring at a random patch on the grass, he manages a portrait worth a frame. Great job Nessman and thanks for the Vitamin C, did me good.

WEAR NOW:

ROBERT GELLER T-SHIRTS

Two really good-looking shirts from Robert Geller @ Selectism/ Stel's
Ridiculously good-looking may not be the phrase, but that's how these two appeal to me. Robert Geller, one of New York fashion week's strongest designers has for us some pretty awesome shirts, both in gray and black. I like how they're simply designed but not too simple that it bores you. And I could already imagine what seems like an infinite possibility of looks for these two. Now I'm thinking blue jeans, the half gray, half black one with white, classic Jack Purcells, a Miansai anything and aviators. That's cool.

The old-timey look and feel of the photos, taken by Rosemary is amazing paired with the layout and the cool blue fonts chosen for the pages. Great story Sense magazine. Marcus too looks amazing. Keep the pages coming Japan, we're happy things are still looking super chic and stylish from you guys. Prayers still with you.

THE WEEKEND:

Our second weekend shortlist for April.

Check out what THE EDGE's got for you that's worth now (and forever).

+ THE RIGHT CREW

Dunhill's Short Sleeve Crew Sweater  @ Selectism

A look straight from the 50s, Dunhill's super cool blue Spring short sleeve crew sweater is a chic option and dressier alternative for the season. Made out of 51% linen and 49% cotton, this style has been resurrected from the classics and I'm glad.The plain white tee may have run its course and we thank Dunhill for giving us this piece to wear (if possible) every single day of Spring.

+ THE NEW GENERATION LEADING MAN

Mark Ruffalo in an A.P.C. jacket, Diesel shirt and J Brand jeans
DETAILS May 2011 issue
The Marlon Brando doppelganger and Oscar nominated actor Mark Ruffalo has given retiring a whole new face. According to DETAILS latest issue, the man who decided it was over with him and acting is now piled up with projects, one of it being the next Hulk and the other sitting behind an entire team as a director. Grab a copy of DETAILS May 2011 issue and read on the interesting turn Mark Ruffalo has taken.

+ AT MR. PORTER's SHADES DEPARTMENT
Raf Simons + Linda Farrow Sunglasses @Mr. Porter
Down at Mr. Porter, the brands carried are well suited for the stylish man. And by that, we mean the style-conscious, and well-versed in the world of style. With collaborations such as this handsome Raf Simons and Linda Farrow acetate sunglasses, to new Balmain offerings, Steve McQueen Persols, awesome pieces by Cutler and Gross and more, the shades department has got plenty of options for you and your preferences. Check out the online store and get yourself a new pair, since with sunglasses, one is definitely never enough.

+ EYE-ing THIS READ

Eye magazine's 79th issue out now @ Eyemagazine
Give yourself some fresh new paper to sniff and study as Eye magazine, the graphic art book that specializes in (to put it loosely) super cool, contemporary art concerns that even the unimaginative would love. Their 79th issue's packed with informative reads and perked up with brilliant graphics, it'll be a shame to pass up on this one. From studying the lettering on 30s German movie posters to a discussion with the Ports team on launching their own publication, I'm sure there is something in here that you'll find yourself sitting the entire afternoon with. Highly recommended. Follow them on Twitter @eyemagazine.

+ ME & MS. JONES
Looking svelte and sexy for W magazine's May 2011 issue
Stefano Tonchi at W magazine's doing an impressive job. I remember reading their October 2010 issue and how his aim for the glossy to be able to attract both men and women as readers and with their latest issue, I am telling you Mr. Tonchi, you've got everyone attracted. January Jones, as I've mentioned wears a name fitting for a comic book title and with looks this awesome, she's bound to transcend from her 50s stint at Mad Men to a very near future in an X-Men movie (that's a fact). Maybe W's not for you yet, but after seeing Jones here, you might want to try out flipping through W. Billy Paul could've been meaning Ms. January Jones all along.

Zach Galifianakis in an interestingly chic suit.
Calvin Klein, I'm guessing? @ GQ
ZACH GALIFIANAKIS
GQ May 2011

Funny man Zach Galifianakis returns on the cover of GQ's May 2011 issue.
Starring in the super hit The Hangover, Galifianakis also makes a comeback on the silver screen with its sequel (and I'm praying it'd be as funny).

Get your May 2011 issue and check out the awesome fill-in-the-blanks style interview of Zach.

P.S. If you know what suit he's wearing here, please tell me. I think it's a Calvin Klein, but I may be wrong. It's incredibly chic.

THE STUDY:

The original George Clooney, Clark Gable on his motorbike
FAMOUS MEN and their MOTORCYCLES
ON THE ART OF MANLINESS

To take inspiration from the post, it is quite peculiar what it is exactly about motorcycles that we find appealing. I'd rather stick to awesome, awesome cars, but I think what's apparent though is that motorcycles have gone down consciousness as the ne plus ultra of speed and masculinity.

At The Art of Manliness, icons who have carved their names down Hollywood and Cultural history are all here, snapped in photos with their motorcycle/buddies.

Check out the other photos and read on about their experiences on the road and on their bikes.

GARRETT NEFF for SIMONS

Just golfing around with Garrett Neff @ MaleModelScene

I am a huge fan of Garrett Neff, reason why I call him THE EDGE favorite and seeing his work for Canada's Simons really made me feel proud. Perfecting the sporty Spring look, Neff pulls off fantastic pieces from Simons and showing that this one's back to ranking high in the model world (just like when he first landed that Calvin Klein campaign). THE WEEKEND:

This month's first shortlist of great things to get now (and forever).

+ EVER HEARD OF DALLAS/FRANCE?

Paolo Anchisi doing his best @ BeforeYouKillUs

Sleek magazine casts Paolo Anchisi for a real impressive editorial shot by Markus Pritzi and styled by Isabelle Thiry. The main theme of the issue's Paris Texas and this story entitled Dallas/France may never sound geographically right but is the finest piece of styling I've seen this month. Check out the cool shots and the great modelilng chops Anchisi has at BeforeYouKillUs.

+ CAMERAWEAR

Protecting your favorite camera w/ these chic pieces @ATimeToGet

If you're just like A Time To Get, not much of a fan of today's camera looks, or just plain in love with your favorite gadget, getting into camerwear (yes, I just might have coined that), is a great idea for your investment. Take to tons and tons of leather options in varying colors and stitches to clothe your cameras all by Aki-Asahi point-and-shoot leather cover. I'm sure these delicious leather covers would take your investment cameras to camera-worthy gadgets.

+ BIGTIME TIME

Concord C2 Chronograph @ Selectism
You may have been shying away from big watches for some time cause what's stylish now is its exact opposite. Then again, if it's a damn good-looking watch, just as long as its not as big as your face then it's good. Meet the C2 Chronograph by Concord. Tough-looking and elegantly masculine in such handsome hues, this stunner will definitely be wrapping 'round wrists real soon.

+ LANVIN THIS

Sporty-ing it up in Lanvin @HighSnobiety
Lanvin goes pared-down, chic and ultra cool for their latest offering of low and high tops. Personally, these triple colorway options are favorites, especially the mustard-gray-white one. What's also commendable about these kicks would be their lack of Lanvin's big labeling, something Lanvin's praised for. Pair these ones with slim cut jeans or khakis and a simple tee...

THE STARTER:

PEOPLE.STYLE.GEAR.READS & MORE

April 2011 is here and we're pulling some serious matters instead of jokes April Foolers love to do.

Get busy and active courtesy of Nike's latest collaboration with Undercover, bike around town in the coolest looking one we've seen and be sure to get perfectly Teed in a Salt exclusive shoot.

All that plus many more things worth an entire month. Folks, no jokes here, welcome to April 2011.

>>> ICON of the MONTH: MARLON BRANDO
Marlon Brando, the lips and the brooding face of a generation of rebels celebrates his birthday this month, on the 3rd. Despite the Godfather star's demise years ago, his legend continues on influencing style, culture and much of the artists we have today.
Words from the wise says: Never confuse the size of your paycheck with the size of your talent. And we say amen. Check out his classic movies, ones featuring a younger version of him in A Streetcar Named Desire and On the Waterfront.

Nike Zoom Structure 14+ Gyakusou by Undercover @HighSnobiety
>>> PAVEMENT POUNDER
Get geared for a month-long run into the streets with Nike's latest running collection with collaborater Undercover. For Spring 2011, the Nike Zoom Structure 14+ Gyakusou boasts high performance thanks to Nike's latest innovations. Undercover's design takes running shoes to a chicer, visually pleasing level with colorways that are just too cool for running. Either you go for the yellow and blue or the red and gray, it doesn't really matter, cause pounding the pavement in these kicks would do your running wardrobe lots of good. Cardio in style is an understatement.

Fred Perry's Deck Jacket @ Swipelife
>>> MUSTARD SAILS
Braving the seas mindless of the month is part of the pleasure of sailing, I believe. But being mindless about one's health and of course, one's style is unacceptable. Always dandy, Fred Perry gets you suited up in a mustard deck jacket for those unexpected weather changes out in the sea. The color is fantastic, makes for a sporty cover up and is definitely brilliant against the azures of the water.

ROGUE magazine's April 2011 issue
>>> READ (LOVE) THIS
Always the stunner, the talented team behind Philippine glossy ROGUE magazine gives every other issue on April's newsstands a run for their money. And it's not just cause beautiful Valerie Weigmann (Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition contestant) is on the cover. Photographed by Mark Nicdao, styled by ROGUE style editor LA Consing Lopez and layout by head designer Miguel Lugtu are the most obvious powers behind this visual feast. But knowing ROGUE and knowing the people behind it, it's not a mere three-man team. ROGUE is a powerhouse of talents, all equally brilliant and that's the reason why the cover and their content are as heavy as buildings. Check out the magazine's first sports issue, tackling now super famous football team the Azkals, Manny Pacquiao's possible competition and basketball legend Michael Jordan's exclusive. All of that just for April. Imagine that.

Tj Estrada and myself photographed by Lesley Choa in SM Boys' Teens Wear Department's shirts @ Salt
>>> SUMMER, MANILA STYLE
Summer in the Philippines is the exact definition of the word. It's hot, it's sticky and it'll test your wits. Great thing is that the country's biggest, most famous department store, SM, has its SM Boys' Teens Wear Department for perfect, cool shirts. Carrying different brands under one roof, SM Boys' Teens Wear has got everyone (everyone who can fit into their sizes) covered and fresh for Manila's t-shirt weather. Check out Salt for the photos styled by myself and one of my best friends, Tj Estrada, and the few selections (among the hundreds) available at SM Boys' Teens Wear Department and what SM has in store for all of you this summer. Clue? It involves a contest, a lookbook application and, yes, you've guessed it, a grand prize that even I would want to grab.

Brooks + Pashley Le John Boultbee Bike @ Swipelife
>>> CHARMING THE CITY
City people know that the charm of having a bike means being able to glide through traffic and gridlock and at the same time, save up on money. Not to mention contribute to all green movements and making our world cleaner and healthier. That is, if you make sure you keep safe. I present to you a handsome bike by Brooks and Pashley Le John. The Boultbee Bike is a rejuvenated version of the company's 1930s classic the Guv'nor. Featuring a diamond shaped body, Brooks saddle, North Road handlebars and a Sturmey Archer rear wheel done up with 28 inch gold, it's a charming and masculine find. Like I always say, if only our city was safe , I'd bike myself around in this charmer. Check out more of the details on Swipelife

Parker Gregory for Hercules' Anniversary Issue @ models.com

>>> THE HANDSOME READ
HERCULES magazine celebrates their anniversary this month and their celebration involves casting today's most handsome faces for their issue. From the five stunning red covers to choose from, the best of old and new faces make for a wonderful collectors' item: Andres Velencoso Segura, Diego Fragoso, Travis Cannata, Parker Gregory and Emilio Flores. Inside the stories are well-styled and are photographed to an almost perfection, it'll be a mistake to miss out on such a handsome read.

Timothy Goodman's desk @ from the desk of

>>> DESK PERSONALITY
If you're a big fan of personality blogs (well, this I have coined myself, meaning blogs that show personalities of people...like streetstyle blogs) because of its whole purpose: showing people what other peoples are like. Voyeurism, Selectism puts it. Whatever word suits your mindset, a new blog that'll surely get you wasting time and also thinking of your own, shows desks of creatives: what their laptops are, which sweaters hang on their chairs, how many mugs they have on their desks. Basically shows you the desk and with it, an exploration of personality and character. from the desk of also includes interviews, which adds a brilliant layer to this blogging experience. Read up, cause after this post, I'm heading there. First seen on Selectism
