THE WEEKEND:

It's the weekend gents!
For May's last THE WEEKEND, we're bringing you some summery finds and some all-year round goodies that you'll be glad to keep, purchase, celebrate and emulate.
Let's go stylin' the weekend and enjoy!

+ HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. PRESIDENT
JFK. Chic. Charming. Cool.
On the 29th, the world will celebrate the United States of America's most charming president's birthday. Born in 1917, the president who has become quite the controversial man of America has influenced the way American history and culture is up to this very day. On the style front, this man has got us all pegged, from the preppy basics to oh-so-cool nautical looks, ValetMag celebrates the president's birthday by showing you how to dress like JFK during the summer. Just think easy, casual, cool and very masculine.

+ YOUR WEEKEND GUIDE

For the Jet-Setter, a DETAILS guide to packing
The azure everything at St. Tropez

Take the weekend off and build a weekend carry-on based on the place you're setting your sights to. DETAILS magazine rounds up three possible vacation modes you could fall under: Beach Boy, Modern Prep or Jet-Setter, and along with that packs for you the finest things money can buy and can bring on your trip. I'm looking at it and I'm liking everything I'm seeing. But what I really want to go to, now is St. Tropez. That is if money weren't part of the issue...

+ THE ALL-YEAR ROUND SWEATSHIRT
Wood/Wood Sweatshirt @ Selectism
Summer here, rainy seasons there, winter probably somewhere, God knows just how different our seasons are and you're best weapon is always a sweatshirt. Classics and basics are good, but sometimes having something quirky, unexpected and youthful in your closet won't hurt your super styling wardrobe. Check out Wood/Wood's Confession Sweatshirt. Paired great with jeans, layer it on or roll those sleeves up depending on the climate you're in and the place you're enjoying it. But this one's a character of a sweater to keep.

+ THE GQ WEEKEND DRESS-LIST
Since when did Angie and Jack Nicholson happen? And where's Brad?

Even when it's odd (and a style trip for me), it still isn't bad at all Ryan Gosling
If I aged like this, I'd be thanking God on my knees every single day. Patrick Dempsey, great job

Every weekend the folks up at GQ round up a list of hollywood's boys and who had it great or bad that week. This weekend, I am pointing your attention to Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling: Brad Pitt is having problems, I could see it. Ryan Gosling, who just never trips on the style front, has (finally) tripped---for me, in this kinda short, awkward looking pyjama/jacket/whatever it is...BUT, since this is the Ryan Gosling we're talking about, the man just never looks awful or bad at all. And because of that, I am starting to hate him. Also, check out Ethan Hawke and why the GQ editors have had a hard time digesting his (actually nice) look. There's also the aging Mr. Patrick Dempsey whose style and looks you'll want to keep note of (cause we're probably getting tired of George Clooney). PLUS, why you should try your best not to look like Johnny Weir.

RYAN REYNOLDS
DETAILS MAGAZINE JUNE 2011

Shirt Calvin Klein Underwear, Pants John Varvatos, Belt Gucci for DETAILS June 2011
Shirt Prada, jeans and belt Gucci.
Shot by Matthias Vriens-McGrath

The sexiest man alive (who loves eating peanut butter burgers) is DETAILS' cover boy for June 2011. I think the whole gray thing for the cover---which you also see on Esquire and GQ, is giving the newsstands some much needed sophistication I must say.
Anyway, looking just as ripped and amazing as ever, Ryan Reynolds shares with Adam Sachs all the reasons why despite his superstardom and superhero stature he's still down-to-earth. Not to mention just how determined he is to be in fighting for as the Green Lantern (he had to undergo 2 operations after such grueling physical training).

My question is, will it ever be possible for the Green Lantern to go head-to-head with Captain America? I've always seen these two as pretty good rivals and I'm guessing who'll make it bigger once their films hit the silver screens soon.

I think they're both great.

THE WEEKEND:

Whether or not it's rapture time, this weekend will definitely be just as stylin' as all those other weekends we've had.
And while we're never sure of our future, we're sure to bring you this weekend's awesome shortlist of things to love...
...Okay fine, and for the future as well.
ENJOY!

+ GLEEful WEDDING
How to pull off wedding looks and they mean not just pull off
but nail them.
Darren Criss for GQ's Wedding Primer

Darren Criss, the Glee superstar has already gotten the ladies hearing wedding bells courtesy of GQ's June 2011 Wedding Primer. From pieces to wear as a guest to the best suits and accessories to sport as a groom, Darren Criss makes for a sterling model for the magazine's guide to next month's popular celebration. Check out more of the looks and get your issue GQ for June.

+ THE GOOD-LOOKERS
Ryan Kennedy, looking deep into the lens. Him and more for Mexican ELLE Man

You know that the best thing to do when you and your other good-looking buddies come together is to dress up in this season's best pieces, get filmed and just pose and look great...Of course I'm kidding. Nobody does that. And if there would be anybody who could do that, then you're one of the nine good-lookers captured here by director Luca Finotti for Mexican ELLE Man magazine. Styled by Joseph Episcopo, male modeling world's most bankable stars are here: personal favorite, Ben Hill, Adam Senn, Tyson Ballou, Ryan Kennedy, Alex Lundqvist, Reid Prebenda, Sid Ellisdon and Romulo Pires. Check out the short film and start getting a better haircut, maybe someday you'll be part of it...I'm getting my haircut now (if only a haircut was a solution).

+ THE VARSITARIAN
Golden Bear for Unionmade @ Selectism
Alright, maybe I've said no to varsity jackets before. But this one is a yes for me. Why? As I've said, just as long as a varsity jacket is as trim, subtle and as chic (not to mention void of any of those college insignia on it) as this one, it's good. What makes this quite the surprise is that it's actually a vest. Done up in a classic varsity jacket design---snap closure with brass buttons, side pockets, those striped bands at the waist, Golden Bear for Unionmade's caramel and navy blue vests are perfect for Spring and that in between. Go sleeveless now!

+ STYLE GOD
The Wooster and the 10 things he considers important @ GQ
News say that the man is out of Neiman Marcus, but fans and admirers of the awesome Mr. Nick Wooster will surely be happy that he's featured on GQ's 10 Must-Have/Essentials...The "old midget queen" who "knows how to dress" himself may seem quite a humor to read, but the man is a pure style God. His looks are always something to look forward to on street style blogs and he's grown an amazing following by simply looking this damn good. For GQ, he shares his 10 essentials from a Thom Browne suit, Church's Shanghai shoes to "All things Mac", a Fran Lebowitz book to his ideal vacation spot, all of which reflect his taste and personality.

+ NEW SUEDE SHOES
Marck McNairy Saddle Suede Shoes @ HighSnobiety
Give your shoe collection some bright therapy. Check out master cobbler, Mark McNairy's new suede shoes: a dashing red suede saddle with a pristine sole matching white pristine laces that will go well with chinos, those Prada-esque shirts for Spring and heavy-tinted black wayfarers.

THE CAMPAIGN:

CLEMENT CHABERNAUD & OTHILIA SIMON
YVES SAINT LAURENT SPRING/SUMMER 2011 EYEWEAR

Doing an eyewear campaign this elegant has got to be for an equally elegant brand.
Yves Saint Laurent's designs are rich and almost overpowering despite its simplicity, exactly what YSL is known for. Photographer and director Karim Sadli's hand at this campaign is genius, stripping everything to its barest and cleanest form, from handsome Mr. Clement Chabernaud to the fresh and beautiful Ms. Othilia Simon both looking like heavenly creatures, give YSL's glasses so much justice, you would want to buy every single piece on the video. Simply put, it's beautiful dramatic but definitely straight-to-the-point...Amazing.

THE LOOK:

MR. PORTER's TRAVEL ESSENTIALS

Fresh. Clean. Crisp: Polo Ralph Lauren Boat shoes, Yves Saint Laurent holdall, Richard James blazer & Ray-Ban Sunglasses
@ Mr. Porter
A.P.C. Sweater & blazer, Polo Ralph Lauren polo shirt & Cutler & Gros sunglasses

On a bad day, my trip online usually involves Mr. Porter. I guess this is what they call Retail Therapy, only thing is I haven't purchased anything (yet) online. It's a shame, I know. Soon though...
To the Mr. Porter team and owner, you guys must've been kissed by angels.
So anyway, I go to Mr. Porter just to keep me happy and ogling at all the beautiful things money could buy makes me feel safe and calm. Their Travel Essentials is no exception.

Featuring the best items you could bring to your travels and the most delicious pieces off their designers' collections, such as Polo Ralph Lauren classics, A.P.C. striped shirts, sleek trousers that are tailored by Roland Mouret for Mr., Gucci sunglasses and more, will cause your greedy, stylish heart some major heartburn.

And just to make the viewing a more pleasurable and meaningful experience, the styling is exquisite: no non-sense but definitely beautiful. The quotes from the different authors and personalities (like my favorite. Mr. Kerouac) also add depth and sentiment to the looks. I find it a nice, literary touch really and since this is what I love doing this effort translates to art for me. I mean, this could pass for an exhibit and it's amazing. Styled and curated for the traveler in each one of us, gents this masterpiece by Mr. Porter will keep you awake and itching for a plane ride to wherever in the world.

Thank you Mr. Porter...It's really a beauty.

ALEXANDER SKARSGARD
GQ JUNE 2011

The handsome Mr. Skarsgard for GQ

The cover is a true keeper.

I was writing this really candid letter to the magazine and realized that really, the cover for this issue is quiet, subtle and very serious. Alexander Skarsgard who's built for super stardom real soon will star in three major films, as Brett Martin reveals for the story. Shot by Carter Smith, Skarsgard's dashing looks and the sort of in-the-trenches styling makes quite a good story and I am really happy about it...And that's not cause I'm a fan of Skarsgard. I just love the whole look and feel of it.
Congratulations GQ, you won me back.
