PHOTO:
WHITE HOT

Do we really have to argue about why this makes such a great photo?

The moment I saw this on The Sartorialist I had proven that people of older ages really could pull off anything they want to wear.

Again, I'm not brave enough to go about wearing an all-white ensemble.
But this man...this man knows what it means to look effortless and relaxed and easy and elegant and gutsy and masculine and classic.

Put this on a younger guy, it'd be very difficult to say "yes, it's stylish".

This is just brilliant. I wonder who he is? This could really make for an iconic portrait, no? I'll have this printed on photo paper and framed. With of course huge credits to Scott Schuman, the genius and the eye behind this.

  1. Hey Gerard -- I was so impressed with your comment on Sart's blog that I've checked out yours. A lot of the things you're showing are things I've already marked and saved for myself -- eery. The sunglasses, the while ankle-high shoes (and get this -- I fence -- and wanted them for exactly that purpose. I currently fence in white XXHi Cons.) I'm an industrial designer, female, living in LA, and a lot older than you.

Great blog, and I will be following you. You write well, and your taste is stunning -- or at least, exactly like mine.

    Best,
    Christina

  2. Hi Christina.
The Dior Homme Ankle Shoes were just insane. They're too cool. And about your fencing, that's great. I've always been interested in fencing cause it strikes me as "scientific" for some odd reason. hahaha...Maybe it's because of all the white.
Anyway, thank you so much for appreciating. Unfortunately, I just surf the net for stuff I think looks and are great. If only I could travel the world right, and actually see all these things. But anyway, I'm glad that somebody sees what I see and likes what I like.

And about my writing, thank you, again, cause it's the only thing I'm sure I'm good at (or at least I try my best to be good at).
Thank you thank you thank you for dropping by and I'll follow you too, IF you have a blog or whatever.

    P.S. I like your job. :D

  3. Morning, Gerard.

I don't have a blog, but yesterday I investigated what it would take after reading yours. I've never been interested in online diarizing, but editing and -- curating. That's the thing. Curating really interests me. You of all people would know, it's not what you say, it's what you leave out. So I might fire one up, and if I do, I'll let you know. Meanwhile, I bought Shadow of the Wind for my Sony Reader (yeah, I love paper too but I also love slim aluminum slabs that are really buildings full of books in my trench coat pocket) and here's one for you: have a look at Old School by Tobias Wolff. I think you might like it. Best fiction I've read in a while.

    Cheers, C

  4. Hi Christina...

Curating's real good...But it takes a lot of work I guess... hahaha...
That's true though. Well, yeah, just tell me if you have a blog. Definitely follow it.
    I'll check out Wolff...
Thing is I haven't gotten to reading Zafon yet. I flipped through pages, read the synopsis and really liked it. I hope I didn't judge too soon. My favorite book really is The Great Gatsby. People say it's so pretentious and all, but Fitzgerald's my idol.

And about reading on techy reader thingies, I'm all for it. If I had enough money I'd get me one of those...But yeah, I'm still better with paper. My eyes are bad too so..hahah
