THE STORY:

THE UNDERCOVER
VMAN # 23
The Coupe Jacob Coupe in Salvatore Ferragamo
Photographed by Josh Olins
Styled by Clare Richardson

VMAN's Archetype issue is pleasing most of us in the blogosphere and after finally securing a copy of their age issue last year, I've counted myself a VMan man too. Featuring the coolest outerwear on the coolest faces of modeling (Harry Goodwins, Jacob Coupe, Paul Boche, Clement Chabernaud, Salieu Jalloh and Lenz von Johnston) The Undercover shows you how to walk the streets in chic anonymity.

And to make the story more of a powerhouse, Josh Olins teams up with Clare Richardson to deliver a subtle but gritty story packed with the most awesome of pieces for Fall. Congratulations VMan, this is an A for me.

Jetset 70s style in Gucci, Marcus Hedbrandh @ MaleModelScene
Hiroyuki Kai, stylist for Sense magazine gives model Marcus Hedbrandh looks from the finest brands of the season: Gucci, Visvim, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana and Rugby by Ralph Lauren. The old-timey look and feel of the photos, taken by Rosemary is amazing paired with the layout and the cool blue fonts chosen for the pages. Great story Sense magazine. Marcus too looks amazing. Keep the pages coming Japan, we're happy things are still looking super chic and stylish from you guys. Prayers still with you.

GLOSSY MAN:
BEN HILL for GQ CHINA
The fashion world's having a great American moment.
For GQ China, Sean Spellman and Doug Inglish team up to deliver one cinematic editorial with all American model Ben Hill.
There are a lot of great photos here, and their opening page reminds me of so many American movies like one of Steve McQueen's and Brad Pitt's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
I'm all for great American style and this editorial is a home run.

GLOSSY MAN:
DANNY SCHWARZ for 2 Magazine
The fantastic Mr. Schwarz kicks it up, in fighting form and fashion, for 2 Magazine's ultra-cool editorial.
Dressed in black, edgy clothes---take note of all those drop crotches and pointy shoulders on scuba gear-looking clothes---my favorite British model shows what it takes to put some manly punch to clothes this edgy, that usually won't work on bodies like his.

With styling like this, all I could think about is Cole Mohr and how he could pull these looks off perfectly.
But, Danny proves that with a man's body, clothes like these look more like fighting gear than just cool clothes.

Whoever the stylist is, he/she's pretty talented.
Cool, cool, cool.

GLOSSY MEN:

CLAUDE SIMONON for VOGUE HOMMES INTERNATIONAL

Claude Simonon photographed by David Sims and styled by the Emanuelle Alt makes for one cool, sober tribute to the King of Rockn'Roll, Elvis Presley.
All these tributes to musical legends have been popping up around, especially for men's fashion magazines, like Baptiste's.
I like these photos cause they're moody without being incredibly dark or sinister or drugged.
It's a cool, relaxed and sober spread.
Good job.

GLOSSY MEN:

SEAN O'PRY
for VOGUE HOMMES INTERNATIONAL

Taken by David Sims for VOGUE HOMMES INTERNATIONAL, one of the world's greatest looking male models Sean O'Pry adds incredible life to this Ralph Lauren story.
This one picture of him is probably his best photo I've ever seen. Sure, not much of his face is seen, but he's just such an incredible model to be able to add more---as I've mentioned above---life to make-up, photography and the Ralph Lauren clothes.
To me the pictures are gripping, despite such simplicity.
Great job.

GLOSSY MEN:

ANDRES VELENCOSO SEGURA for V Man

If you looked this good, why not dress this good too right?!
Denim is such a GIANT for the past few months, V MAN had to cast three incredibly insane looking men to model the BEST denims from Calvin Klein Jeans, Adam Kimmel, Levi's and many more for their latest issue.
And in my opinion, Segura looks the best.

GLOSSY MEN:

MATTHEW GOODE for GQ January 2010

Matthew Goode who stars in Tom Ford's highly-acclaimed debut film A Single Man, stars---by himself, in GQ's Spring 2010 trend report.
10 for 10 gets readers on the lowdown on the best trends and wears for Spring 2010, which includes: grey leather sneakers, white straight leg pants, (still) the denim shirt, a cooler baseball jacket (which I really, really like) and those high-tech parkas that make for good investments. People on the website found it quite annoying to have so much shots of the denim shirt, even though it already says that the denim shrit of 2010 is the "multitalented" kind (meaning it's as versatile as versatile could get). Probably they're tired of it having too much attention this year. I don't know. I say it's time to buy some clothes for the next season...even if there's nothing much happening to Manila weatherwise.

GLOSSY MEN:

JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT on GQ December 2009

500 Days of Summer made a big(ger) star out of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and he's very interesting.
For GQ's December 2009 issue, Gordon-Levitt pulls off this year's best retailers/designers with lots of humor and oddly cool poses. You could imagine him singing or dancing for these photos like he did on the music video he shot with co-star Zoey Deschannel for She & Him's "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?"...
As for the clothes, well surprisingly, they're not that expensive.
Check out GQ's picks for this year's best designers and more of Gordon-Levitt's photos on the December issue of GQ.

GLOSSY MEN:
Garrett Neff, Cory Bond, Nate Gill, Tanner Tillung & Grayson Gettys on VMAN

Never mind the bulges and the greasy bodies... And never mind if it strikes you somewhat gay. By now, I might have trained your eyes to Garrett Neff (one of my favorite models of all time) so you know who he is among these greased up models. It's all about getting pumped up and worked out as Terry Richardson---one of the best photographers in my opinion, shoots these young strapping men in very little clothes. Richardson is always all about the white walls, the sex and the subtle, subtle humor and I love it! Save for those bare bodies, these pieces are actually quite handsome...Take great note of all those shoes. They're all oh-so-cool. Especially that most of them are in white...
