ROGUE July 2011
LOVI POE

Lovi Poe for ROGUE's July 2011 issue
Styled by LA Consing Lopez

Let's lay it all out there shall we: Lovi Poe is a Filipino actress, daughter of an iconic movie star whose three letter alias stands for an outstanding filmography, cultural impact and an intriguing political attempt. Lovi Poe is also not my favorite Filipino actress or celebrity. Though I'm no expert on acting or on other celebrity-matters, Lovi Poe hasn't really got me intrigued or at least, curious. For me, she's alright.

But just like last month's bold move to put President Noynoy Aquino on the cover (packed with heavy-weight writers and articles), ROGUE makes it incredibly easy for me now to like Lovi Poe....She's incredibly sexy and LA Consing Lopez's styling brings out the finest in Poe making this another classy and high-quality production that the magazine is notorious for. Of course, Mark Nicdao does perfect. It's simple, dark, sensuous and very magnetic.

The stories too are impressive, and as always promising. What I'd love to read would be their feature/article on 9 famous Filipino personalities/groups (including Kris Aquino and Willie Revillame) and what makes them so appealing to the masses. I talked to the magazine's new Editorial Director, Mr. Jose Mari Ugarte last month & he told me that getting the magazine on Zinio for those who aren't here in the Philippines is actually a cheap buy for something this packed, classy and relevant. SO if you're in another country---just like my cousins from Memphis who loved the publication, you're a click away from a Filipino brand/publication that's worth bragging about.

Congratulations ROGUE, for never disappointing anyone AND for keeping the standards as high as possible.

- Gerard
